What courses should I take?

Prospective students from the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) or Richard Bland College are highly encouraged to explore our transfer pathways to success via the Guaranteed Admissions Agreement or General Education Certificate.

For those who do not wish to enroll in these programs, we hope that you find our lists of course equivalencies helpful as you prepare for your transfer to VCU. Complete list of degree programs can be found on VCU bulletins

If your institution is not represented above, please select the College or School for which you are applying.

Prospective students to VCUarts

One hundred level studio classes are considered for transfer into VCU's Art Foundation program on a case-by-case basis. After a student is accepted into VCUarts, transcripts and application portfolio are reviewed to determine which courses will transfer into the program. Upper level courses and courses outside of the general art and design requirements for all areas of Art and Design will be considered for transfer by the major departments upon completion of the Art Foundation program.

There are no minimum course requirements in order to apply to transfer to VCUarts. However if you are currently enrolled in the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) or Richard Bland College (RBC), please take a look at this list of recommended courses.

The course equivalencies guide is very helpful in determining how your credits earned at another institution will transfer to VCU. As stated above, your transcripts and portfolio must be reviewed to determine transfer of arts classes. However, the guide is helpful in determining general education transfer credits.
