Students from VCCS/RBC
Virginia Commonwealth University has established Guaranteed Admission Agreements with Virginia Community College System and Richard Bland College.
Guaranteed Admission Agreements
Students who complete a General Education Certificate or a transfer-oriented Associate’s degree at VCCS or RBC with a minimum GPA of 2.5 with no grades below a C in all transferable courses are guaranteed a general admission to VCU. Transfer-oriented associate degrees include: Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Science (A.S.), and Associate of Arts and Science (A.A.&.S).
This agreement does not guarantee admission to professional or specialized programs such as art, engineering, or health programs.
Transfer Articulation Agreements
In addition to the GAA, Articulation Agreements have been signed between individual community colleges and specific schools or programs at VCU. Upon the completion of all requirements that are dictated in these agreements (including GPA expectations), students are guaranteed admission to specific programs at VCU.
For example, the agreement between Danville Community College and the VCU School of Business allows students with Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from DCC guaranteed admission into B.S. programs in VCU School of Business. The students have to meet all the requirements.

In addition to the GAA, transfer pathways have been developed for certain programs at VCU. These pathways help community college students select appropriate course work at their current institution based on the major they plan on transferring to at VCU.
Transfer pathways for each community college can be found on our “What courses should I take?” page
